Whiffle Ball Game

Memory-Making Family Fun

Family fun out on the lawn tonight! It’s nice to see multi-generational memory-making in the works… You know these kids will always remember playing whiffle ball on the lawn at Mockingbird Bay Resort with their cousins, siblings, aunts and uncles, parents and grandparents! :)

Good fun!

Now back to Mockingbird Bay Resort

Nice Large Mouth Bass, Norfork Lake

May 6, 2011

Nice fishing and happy faces! That’s what I love to see!

Walt and Diane, guests at the resort, netted their own shad this morning, and are enjoying a beautiful day of fishing on Norfork Lake!

Walt and Diane with a Large Mouth Bass

Nice One!

As we were chatting with them from the dock, Walt’s pole bent down, and I was able to video him while he reeled in a 14-inch Kentucky bass!

The Lake House Gals

Ladies of the Lake AND the Pool

Laura, Cailyn and Kiersyn recently enjoyed a little pool action in the sun! (Known for their distinguished personal shopping abilities, and love for evening resort ice cream — these little Tegel gals are pretty tough, as I’ve witnessed them single-handedly wrestle a wild alligator in the water!)

Bass Cat 2010 Winners

Doug Osmera (left) and Pat Hayes, of Omaha, Neb., hold their first-place and big-bass plaques in front of the bass boat they won after winning the 24th annual Bass Cat Owner’s Invitational Tournament Friday at Henderson Marina on Norfork Lake. The duo sported a two-day catch of 29.13 pounds to win the event.

Happy Friendship Group

We welcomed The Bias Bunch (“…just slightly off straight of grain…”) who were here for a 2-day quilt retreat in the Lake House. Such a nice group of talented quilters (several ladies not pictured, sorry!) from the Hill & Hollow Quilt Guild in Mountain Home.

Lorraine, The Crappie Queen

The Crappie Queen Strikes Again

Lorraine, The Crappie Queen

Lorraine and her son, Jerry, have been coming to Mockingbird Bay Resort on Norfork Lake for years and years — She’s practically famous in these parts. In fact, over the years, she and Jerry made friends with guests in a neighboring cabin, Don and Pat, who would come to fish and stay at the resort during the same timeframe, many times seeing each other at various gas stations or stops along the way to Mockingbird Bay from their homes in Michigan and Illinois. Over time, they became good friends, and now they schedule their fishing vacations together — sharing the Lake House with each other.

Great people! (Thanks Pat for the plateful of yummy sugar-coated dessert balls!)

Lorraine, our beloved Crappie Queen, is pictured here with a crappie caught off the dock during her recent stay.

Don F. in Cabin 2

Don F., Cabin 2 -- Fisherman (and Chef)

I really should have blogged the beautiful red box of awesome homemade chocolates (4 different kinds — coconut, vanilla, peanut butter and maple) that Don gave us, brought all the way from East Moline, Illinois, that he and his wife made — however, being the chocoholics that we are, the photo op obviously didn’t take place soon enough and, well, I’m blogging this picture of Don instead. :)

Thanks Don, for the delicious box of chocolates!
–and the nice pic!

P.S. And thanks so much for the generous donation toward Valory’s fund-raising efforts for her trip to Germany with GAPP this June.

Jerry P. and Don L.-the-birthday-boy have been having a good time catching fish this week — here’s a 23-pound striper!

The Fish are Bitin’

March 31, 2010

I have been fishing with James since 1993 and we try to make at least one annual trip for some of the best fishing and scenery you could ever imagine. There are many things that cannot be controlled such as weather, moon phase, lake levels, but the one thing you can count on with James is an upbeat personality and 110% effort to get fish in the boat. When your wife asks you “When do we get to go fishing again with James?”, You know he is doing something right, so enough said. I encourage anyone looking for a great relaxing fishing experience to give James a call and you will not be disappointed. In addition, this is a great event for your Co-Workers to show them appreciation for a job well done and I highly recommend this. The Mockingbird Resort is an excellent place to book your rooms for large groups and James will pick you up right at the dock.

Thanks Again and Look Forward to Our Next Trip
